South Plantation's Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration magnet is open to all eligible students throughout Broward County. Free transportation is available. District uses random selection when applicant numbers exceed the available spaces, which has occurred for the last 13 years at SPHS. Academic requirements are a 2.5 unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) in English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science and a level 3 on the FCAT reading or 50 percent or higher total math score on a nationally recognized test. All students must demonstrate good conduct. Broward County Public Schools accepted applications for the 2017-18 school year from December 2016 through February 8, 2017 but late applications are available. For the 2017-18 school year, applicants must submit copies of their most recent report card and test scores before the application is complete. Applications received or postmarked after the February 2017 deadline will be processed lat a later date on a space-available basis. For the past 14 years, admission to South Plantation's magnet has gone to a random-selection process by the district.
