Magnet Requirements

     South Plantation's Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration magnet is open to all eligible students throughout Broward County. Free transportation is available within the transportation zone boundary. The District uses random selection when applicant numbers exceed the available spaces, which has occurred for the last 22 years at SPHS.
​     Academic requirements are a 2.5 unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) ​in English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science and a level 3 on the reading or 50 percent or higher total math score on a nationally recognized test. All students must demonstrate good conduct.
     For Phase One: Broward County Public Schools first accepts applications for the 2026-2027 school year from November 3, 2025 through January 28, 2026. When it closes, Phase 2 will have new closing date. All applicants are required to submit copies of their most recent report card and test scores before the application is complete.
