Changing of the Guard:
Zealy Leads Magnet Program

Magnet Coordinator Matthew Zealy has been with the South Plantation magnet since 2004 and graduated from South Plantation. In fact, he has been encouraging the the ER Ambassadors since the beginning with Kay Burley. He works closely with the Everglades Foundation, South Florida Water Management and numerous environmental partners representing SPHS at major conferences including the Everglades Coalition.
He developed the Research I course that exposes all magnet students since 2002 to the various partners and components involved in restoring the Everglades since the beginning of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. (C.E.R.P. 2000).

Coordinator Greeting - Matthew Zealy

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As the new Magnet Coordinator, I am thrilled to welcome you all back to school for what promises to be an exciting and enriching academic year. For those of you who are new to South Plantation, welcome to the Paladin family. As a South Plantation High School alum and 19-year veteran teacher in the Magnet program, I am proud to be ushering in this new chapter in our program’s history.
Our Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration Magnet program has always been a beacon of excellence, and together, we will continue to foster an environment of innovation, creativity, and collaboration. I am dedicated to supporting each of you in your unique educational journey and ensuring that you have access to the resources and opportunities you need to thrive.
I encourage you to actively participate in all the field trips, activities and opportunities that our magnet program has to offer. Your curiosity and dedication are what make our community exceptional, and I have no doubt that together, we will achieve remarkable things.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns. My door is always open, and I'm here to support you in any way I can.
Let's embark on this new academic year with enthusiasm, determination, and a shared commitment to excellence. I can't wait to see all that we will achieve together.
Welcome back for the 2023-2024 school year, Paladins!
