Q: What is a magnet?

A magnet focuses on a specific theme, and the core and elective courses reflect the theme.

Q: How will the South Plantation magnet benefit my child?

Supported by state-of-the-art technology and quality partnerships, the magnet delivers a well-rounded program.  Dual enrollment courses, Tech/Prep classes, and Advanced Placement options prepare students to compete in college, technical school or workplace.

Q: What scholarships are available?

In addition to internships, the magnet offers students the chance to earn academic and vocational scholarship money including the Bright Futures and Gold Seal programs to qualified students.  Last year magnet students earned more than $1.9 million in scholarships.

Q: What activities/athletics does South Plantation offer?

The Paladins field 24 teams for boys and girls and several junior varsity squads.  Additionally, the school boasts award-winning programs: Student Government, Journalism, DECA, Music, Health Service Occupations, Drama, TV Productions, Animal Science & Horticulture and Honor Societies.

Q: Is transportation available?

Free bus transportation is provided throughout the county for students in the magnet program including extra buses for students who join after-school activities.
